We are so excited with our Innovation & Design division. There is nothing more exciting than taking an idea, designing it, building it and then going to market. That’s what we do in the SME space.

Australia has always been known for clever people coming up with amazing ideas. The problem is, most of our ideas head overseas and ‘others’ benefit from them. Why? Policy in Australia hasn’t for decades really supported innovation. But guess what: WE DO. If you have an idea reach out. We’d love to help you make it a success.
Stage 1 - Design
We have our own designers that produce high quality CAD and 3D designs based on client specifications. We control the entire process to ensure designers deliver exactly what the clients is looking for, within a defined timeframe and agreed budget.
Stage 2 - Concept prototype
At SMEA we have our own in-house 3D printers. Once the designs are exactly what we are after, we then 3D print the exact prototype. We then have a solid model that gives us a real appreciation of size, weight and of course the ability to go back and make any necessary design changes.
Stage 3 - Plastic Injection Moulding
Once we are all happy with the final prototype we then move to the mould and plastic injection process. We have to go off-shore for this, as in Australia a basic mould will set you back $30,000. We’ve been producing moulds for high end nylon / plastic composite accessories for clients for around $5,000. The mould is an exact replica of the final design and enables you to produce as many of the products you need for your market.
Stage 4 - Going to Market
Some clients will already have a feel for and contacts within the market they are designing something for. If you don’t and you need a hand to secure sales, then we can most definitely support you with strategies and opportunities.
